  2. Well done Thomas a competent and splendidly presented case study with excellent screen shots to illustrate your points.

    To strengthen:

    I was watching "The Wizard of Oz" on Boxing Day and immediately noted the use of high colour when Dorothy is transported into a fantasy land of the Munchkins. Thus high colour is used in this 1936 film to indicate illusion, whilst the sepia sequences that top and tail the film indicate reality.

    Thus you may wish to add that the intense use of colour in these sequences from Blue Velvet and Kill Bill 1 suggest that suburbia is an illusion of the American dream whilst the reality is.......!!!!!
